It's been awhile

So as some of you may know, about six months ago I made a decision to hopefully forever change my life. On March 17, 2012 I decided I needed to get into shape! I was packing on the pounds due to decreased activity, unhealthy eating, increases in consumption of alcohol, and lack of positive esteem. Since March I have lost 50 lbs, and I think in about 50 lbs I will be at my healthiest. It has been quite a journey thus far, with many stumbling blocks, and as some might say plenty of "wailing and gnashing of teeth!" I have had to take on so many aspects of my life and flip them upside down. The way I eat has completely change. I rarely eat out, and even if I do I always find the healthiest thing to eat, and make many adjustments to it in the process. I work out several times a week. I have recently joined forces with a dear friend who is helping me to tone muscles and start running. We will be doing our first 5k in about three weeks! I try to get more rest (this is sometimes hard for many reasons I will not disclose ;)). So just a little update for yall. I hope to keep this blog up to document continued changes, and I look forward to the many changes up ahead. :)

P.S.

I was feeling nostalgic the other day and remembered this great doll I was given for Christmas when I was about 7 years old so I tried to find it online. I remember that this doll was the only thing my I wanted so of course my mom had to get it... haha

After a bit of research I found the name of the doll (Magic Nursery Doll) and a great video of the commercial that caused a frenzy in toy stores for at least one Christmas shopping season. Enjoy:

SOOOOOOOO

So I felt there are just a few things I should write considering it has been almost 3 months since my last post. First: I moved back to Utah the beginning of May and I am way excited to be back, but I am missing my friends from Indiana a ton!! I have a few special friends coming back to Utah for school in the fall and I am way excited to have them here!! Second: Although I am way excited to be back in Utah and close to family I have already had to deal with the pleasures of family drama by being so close... I know that there is always good with the bad, but at the same time it reminds me of the liberation of family drama while I was in Indiana these past two years... It stresses me out and I'm sure I'll be used to it again in a little while, but the shock of it all again has really worn me down.. Third: I am NOT happy with the current state of the economy... Today GM filed bankruptcy, I have been home for over 3 weeks and I still don't have a job (the money is quickly running out), my mom can't find a decent job so she is at risk of losing her house and car (she was layed off from her previous job due to cut backs brought on by the ever plummeting economy...)Basically I am stressed...

Oh, so my sister is getting really close to having her little boy which is way exciting!! And my sister in law may have her little girl next week which is also super exciting!! I am so blessed to have such a great niece and nephew and I am looking forward to the new additions. :)

Well this is about all I can think to write about for now.

Peace :)

Chicago

This past week has been Spring Break, and a much needed Spring Break at that! My friend Katie and I decided to head up to Chicago for a few days. It was a complete blast! It did rain on us most the first day so we came back soaked since we decided to walk everywhere.. haha.. We spent a lot of time walking around and visiting random places such as Millennium Park, some art gallery that used to be the city library, tons of shops, Tiffanys! (I almost fainted it was so AMAZING!!!), the Hershey store where we argued about how to pronounce Reese's, over a scary bridge that rises up (I'm not a fan of bridges in any sense), and we ordered an authentic chicago style pizza (and got lost finding the pizza place). We stayed at an amazing hotel that we found through one of those discount websites, we were super lucky to get a really good hotel! It was probably one of the best nights of rest of my life! The next day it was freezing cold but we made a trip to Navy Pier and got to experience the daily adventures of the city bus. We were confused about where we were going on the way to Navy Pier so we decided to follow another person we knew was going to the pier... We are sneaky like that! We got lost coming back to Muncie, and ended up paying a few too many tolls because of it... All in all we had a really great time and I can't wait to go back again!

Things are coming around!

So for those of you who don't know, I got into the MSW program at the University of Utah! The program is rather hard to get into so I was scared I wouldn't get in, but I DID!!! When I received the acceptance letter I went into my apartment and was squealing and jumping, and had a huge smile on my face. To say the least I was ecstatic! Also, I am almost done with my time in Indiana and while I am extremely excited to have my degree and be moving back to Utah, I was really scared not knowing what I would be doing when I came back to Utah. NOW I KNOW!
Also, I have two little babies being born in my family this summer, a boy and a girl! I am so EXCITED about this!!! This doubles the amount of nieces and nephews in my family, and I look forward to living close to them and being able to watch them grow up! I'm going to cut this short since I can't focus, but I wanted to get it out there about the recent developments in my life!
Peace :)

Random thoughts at an airport

So Christmas vacation just started and I am on my way home to see my family and friends that I miss so much! I am way excited!! I got done with finals yesterday and boy was I glad for that... I was averaging about 4 hours of sleep a day which is apparently a lot during finals week but I need my sleep to function at all. I feel I did well and I got a B in my research methods class which I find to be quite the accomplishment! YAY! I have one semester left in my masters program, and as that draws to a close I am excited for my new life... and the changes that will be happening... but at the same time I am extremely scared to have to be a grown up and have a real job. eek. I just want to mention how grateful I am to my friends that I have met at Ball State and all they have done to keep me alive and going when all I want to do is go home... Michelle I am gonna miss you! We will definitely have to visit each other!!! I know this is rambling and probably doesn't make much sense but it's just flowing out of my fingers. :) Everyone have a great Holiday, not matter what you do or don't celebrate, and I love you all!

Relationships

So I have been watching my friends lately and some of them are in really bad relationships. I don't understand what keeps them there... Well I think maybe I do, almost 6 years of Psychology tells me I do... But I just see how sad they are and I just want to shake them and tell them to get the hell out! I have seen so many horrible relationships and the after effects of those relationships, and it really saddens me that people can't get out of the situation before it becomes too much... So to all my friends out that who are in crappy relationships: GET OUT!!!
Loves. :)
